*A quarter way through BHG, I read 25 Ways To Declutter for the New Year. 21 suggests you pare down your linen closet to 3 towels per person, two sets of sheets per bed, plus an extra set for guests. As I write out each suggestion I become inspired to apply #21 ASAP. I immediatly get up and purge through my linens. Leavng my family with 12 towels and 5 sheet sets between my boys and extra bed and let the rest go. I enourage my boys to eliminate trash, dirty clothes and their sheets in a 30 minute time frame. Voila!!! Mission accomplished. Have a janitorial size trash bag full of linens and clothes ready to be dropped in a clothes bin for charity.

That Guy In The Glass

For My Sons,

When you get what you want in your struggle for self and the world makes you king for a day, then go to the mirror and look at yourself and see what that guy has to say.

For it isn't your mother, brother or friends whose judgment you must pass.
The person whose verdict counts most in your life is the one staring back in the glass.

You can go sown the pathway of years reciving pats on the back as you pass,
but your final reward will be heartaches and tears if you cheated that guy in the glass.

It is about the Journey not the Outcome!

Get Your Purs In Order

Okay, already into our second week of the new year. How many of us planned to get out lives and homes organized once and for all? Yea, me too! Now the serious queston of the matter is; "How many of us have begun the process?" No, as a matter of fact I havn't started YET! Asking a male friend to grab & pass me my purse he asked if I had a 45 in tote. So with all of you and myself in mind I at least organized this piece to share and inspire action to a clear home, car, and life. Together we will get our stuff together. The key thing about organizing is first to purge (yea real hard first step) but it must be done. So what I'm going to do is ease us into the process. Small baby steps are in order. Our first step in the process is to clean out and organize the purse. Small but scary. If we are unable to clean out the purse, the closet and garage will remain a place we avoid. Haul your pusre to the nearest cleared table or in our case we might have to use the floor. Dump all of you contents out. Start by removing all trash. Gather all of your receipts and balance your check book and store your receipts in an envelope marked for th month. Press-to, a two in one. Now remove all items that don't belog in your purse or to you. Anyone who has children, especially small children have some toys in tote. For those of us who enhance our inner beauty with a touch of make-up, use a make up bag to store only itemsthat you use daily a few times a day; allother contents should be stored athome. A coin purse or the inside coin pocket, please store all loose change here. No one likes to waiting for the unorganizedwoman searching for a dime and a nickle in the bottom of anoversizedcoach bag. Come on ladies if we're going to look toether let's strive to actually be together. Organization isto make our lives doable without extra chaos, and a junky Prada is pure chaos. Oh, you thought I forgot about the wallet, nope? Remove all old receipts, movie tickets, old gum & definitly those numbers that was slipped your way. Again stick to what you need and use on a regular, place all other credit cards in a safe at hom & leave them there. Once organized does not mean always organized, you must stay on top of the process. Okay mission complete. Treat yorself and leave me a comment or feedback on the process.

Today's Black Woman

Special thanx to my girl Tricia,

I received this mag at my girls Christmas Social. It was such a fitting gift, since I'm a magazine junkie. I've tried many times and strategies to break my addiction. I've set the rule that I must read the mag cover to cover which I do. I've tried limiting myself with subscriptions only to find myself talking to myself in the check out line regarding another mag. purchase. I've created a journal using mags and would like to have a mag club vs. the book club group. Now my goal is to at least apply what I've learned from any given mag & blog about it. So here is my first shot at blogging about a mag I've read cover to cover.

  • Beginning with words from the Editor, she began with the question- "How Do You Feel About Change?" She implied that most of us settle for the "If It's Not Broke Don't Fix It." syndrome. Although our situation may not be "Broken" exactly how well is it working? Is our level of satisfaction with our lives for example; Great, Fair or Barely Maintaining? To answer the first question for myself "Change is easier when you don't fight it." Answering the next question I must say that my life ain't broke, but I'm striving for my greatest self and life.
  • So glad to see housewives of athletes who are not desperate. 31yrs. old, Dr. Roselyn M. Smith received her Doctorates of Philosophy in Biological Engineering from University of Missouri-Columbia. Today she is a scientific advisor in intellectual property law and a volunteer research scientist in a neonatal intensive care unit of a local hospital. She is married to Bradley Smith of New York Jets. Truly a Sista worth reppin for.
  • IF You Can't Seem To Get Over Him- Go all the way & clean out your life of everything that is his. Keeping his stuff, keeps him around while keeping others out.

A Perfect Sunday

My goal is to have a perfect Sunday each week. No Sunday or week should begin without praise & worship. Started my day, week, month and year @ LCM. As my pastor came around to greet his congregation, he hugged & said to me, "Havn't seen you as I had before, but I do notice when you're here." Ohh did he bust me out? However I'm glad he noticed and further more made it a point to let me know he notices. Needing to exercise for life, I made it to the gym as well. Being spiritually and physically fed I was armed to conquer the grocery store, avoiding junk food overload. Now I'm home to spend the rest of my evening with my family. Now that's a perfect Sunday.

Reflection is what it is. As I sit back & reflect over 2010 I realize that Life is nothing you can strategicly plan. I guess that's why we didn't recieve a user's guide. Life is a but a mere vapor, it appears and vanishes before you know it. I've accomplished, grown, celebrated, cried, hurt, and stumbled. I've done my best to embrace it all and remain in the moment. I've marveled at the beautiful days that God has sent, especially the rain. I've disconnected from some while connecting to others. I have no resolutions to bring in the new year. My aim is to take action, while I'm experiencing every moment of my life. Do I want to lose weight and save money?, of course so my action must be to move more, push away from the table, and tithe & save 10% of my earnings first. I know what to do, but like Nike says "Just Do It!"
